The shortest song on the compilation coming in at just 1:47 (if only the 'bad cover version' I was thinking of when I wrote this song had come in at that length - preferably shorter!)

There are some terrible Christmas songs out there, truly hideous, and I know, I've written some myself.

I had the misfortune of hearing one such cover of a 70's 'classic' during the festive season one year which immediately make me start formulating the idea for this song for the following Christmas. The lyric came fairly easily - there isn't much more to say other than what immediately sprung into my head when the offensive track was being played.

All I could do was make fun of the song - I'm not a vindictive person - and everyone has a right to cover whatever they please. My only thought was ... at least make a half-decent effort at it!

And yes ... all the boxes of chocolates do appear to be smaller than they were in the past!

  Day 10 - Christmas Bride Christmas Bride - play song on Bandcamp A re-write of my track 'Blushing Bride' to pose the question, are you the Christmas bride? The lyric idea came from two sources - one being noticing older members of the community and wondering what their weddings might have been like and the second, watching repeats of Top of the Pops from the 70's, with young dancers and contemplating what their lives might have been (depending on the era and their musical tastes) as well as how they might look today. So the lyric takes us to a wedding in December 1965 and a honeymoon in a caravan (probably as glamorous back then as one in Thailand is today) through Glam Rock, the Bay City Rollers, Punk, New Romantics, Brit Pop ...
